Tips for Handling Orthodontic Issues at Home
Due to COVID-19, many orthodontic offices are temporarily closed except in cases of emergency. If you are a patient of Frugé Orthodontics you have likely been in contact with our office to discuss your treatment plan during this time of upheaval. We want our patients to know that their orthodontic care will not suffer due to this temporary situation, and we also wanted to provide a few tips for handling any issues that may arise.
Essentials for At-Home Orthodontic Care
Continue following all of the usual instructions from your orthodontist, such as wearing your retainer as directed and avoiding chewy and crunchy foods.
If you are having a lot of discomforts, utilize the tips we provide to all of our patients, such as warm water rinses, oral analgesics, and pain medication.
Take care to not jostle or dislodge your brackets, as it may take a while to get them repaired. Clean your teeth and braces as usual, and don't forget to floss!
Device care (retainers) is also very important. Be sure to keep your appliances out of direct sunlight and out of the reach of pets! Now is not the time to lose or damage your retainer. Clean it as directed and wear it daily as instructed.
If you experience an emergency related to your orthodontic care or are having a lot of unusual pain and discomfort, please call us. We will do everything we can to care for our patients in a safe and effective manner.
We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, but just remember that it is temporary and the team at Frugé Orthodontics looks forward to seeing you as soon as it is safe to do so! Stay safe and healthy.
